2023 Cannes AVIFF Art Film Festival & Wonderful World Call For Works

The "Wonderful World" has been held three times successfully (interrupted for two years since 2020 due to the global epidemic), from the first exhibition in Qingdao (2017) to the second in Guiyang (2018) and the third in Shanghai-Malaysia (2019). A total of 54 universities from 24 countries participated in this event. Every year, students apply the forms of micro-film, animation art, and new media art to promote the theme of international public welfare. This exhibition actively motivates the participation of international university students with the goal of harmonious and symbiotic development in society. To achieve the aim of collectively developing public welfare stories and diversified cultural stories, the WW Alliance is welcoming college students from countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" to participate in the global touring exhibitions and collaborative content creation.

As the only international public welfare cultural and creative competition for college students under the "Belt and Road Initiative", "Wonderful World" actively promotes students to jointly pay attention to the themes of "people and environment", "body and society", "people and science", and cross-cultural integration. The competition urges young students from all over the world to create cultural inheritance and innovation, artistic exchange and mutual learning, and international responsibility and dedication, which has become the mission of this public welfare communication and creative platform.

The 4th Qingdao 2022 "Wonderful World" International Student Public Welfare Media Art Exhibition (Qingdao-Cannes-Nashville) was launched with the themes of "Body and Society" and "People and Environment". Rely on the Qingdao Film and Television Expo and Oriental Movie Metropolis to encourage international college students to tell stories of China and the world.

3. Requirements for the Works

1. Annual Fixed Creative Theme: " people and environment" or "Body and Society".

2. Participants: undergraduates and post-graduates students (individuals or teams) have to be guided by a lecturer/professor to participate in the competition. Shortlisted works must be provided with English or French subtitle after the competition.

3. Requirements for Works: The works in this section can adopt 2 creative forms, requirements of works:

1) Submitted works should be 1-30 minutes. The original resolution is not less than 1280x720. The acceptable format is MOV, AVI or MPG. Please use the general compression code of H.264 to ensure the normal play.

2) The electronic registration form should be submitted to the organization committee with the electronic owner signature of the copyright and an English description.

4. Exhibitor Instructions

Regulations for exhibited works:

(1) The content should be healthy and positive, and does not involve content such as obscenity, violence, murder, reactionary and insulting religion.

(2) The creative time of the annual works of this event is from January 01,2020 until October 31, 2022.

(3) Registering for the 2022 "Wonderful World" Media Exhibition Opening Ceremony means that you are agree with the works will be collected by the International Media Art Exhibition. The International Media Art Exhibition has the right to conduct public welfare exhibitions, public welfare publicity and public welfare fund raising on relevant platforms.

5. Copyright and Related Regulations of Participating Works:

1. Participants must ensure that their works are completely created by themselves or co-created by a cooperative team. Once plagiarism is found, they will be disqualified from the event.

2. Participants are not allowed to transfer their works to a third party within one year, or allow a third party to use them at this event.

3. The organizer has the right to broadcast and adapt the works of this public welfare activity.

4. The copyright of the works of the 2022 Sister Film City Qingdao and Cannes Co-host "Wonderful World" Media Exhibition Opening Ceremony belongs to the author, but the organizing committee has the right to use the works for free, and has the right to use the works of this event for free for non-profit, public welfare and social welfare support activities worldwide.

5. If the works of this event needed to be used for commercial purposes, the organizer will pay the corresponding copyright remuneration on the basis of negotiation with the creator or creative group before using it.

6. The creation of works of the 2022 Sister Film City Qingdao and Cannes Co-host "Wonderful World" Media Exhibition will be strictly implemented in accordance with these regulations. Students who participate in the selection of works of the International Student Media Art Exhibition in 2022 will be deemed to have recognized and accepted these regulations from the time of registration. For all questions arising from the translation of this charter in Chinese and English, the Chinese version shall prevail. This activity charter will take effect from the date of publication. The Organizing Committee of the International Student Media Art Exhibition reserves the right of final interpretation.
